A NOTE FROM SUE BAYLEY, RETIRING PRESIDENT

Another season over and another team promoted with the Ladies 2s gaining moving up to North Division - this means that at least one team has now been promoted at the end of the last 6 seasons.

As we reach the end of the season, there are a huge number of people to thank:

  • Exec Committee - Every member puts in so much work to ensure that we all get to play hockey on a Saturday. Special thanks to Pete Millen for all his work on the accounts and Rach Porter for her work as Ladies Club Captain;
  • Captains/Vice Captains - finding players for teams, umpires and collecting the money;
  • Coaching - Robbo/Demi/Crispy for working with the GKs every week;
  • Fixtures - Shaun;
  • Umpires - Shaun and Roy Taylor have made a huge contribution to the Club across the last season;
  • Social - Sophy supported by Tommy G.
  • Website and Newsletters - Jon Moore and Rachel Chicken
  • Sponsors - SMP and Bollin Legal

Off the pitch congratulations to:

Births:

Chicken - the arrival of 2 new chicks
Emily Andrews - arrival of Edwin George

Engagements:

Gemma Beaty, Becci Brown, Stretch

Marriages:

Demi and Nat

My personal thanks go to Pete, Demi, Campbell, Dave Fielding, Angie and Rach Porter for all their help, support and guidance during my time as President. I've done a job at the Club nearly every season since I joined so I am looking forward to just being a player. My last task is to wish Demi every success in his term as President.

A NOTE FROM GARETH LEWIS (DEMI), YOUR NEW PRESIDENT

I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing the good work that Sue and the rest of the Exec have started. I aim for this club to move forward and compete at the highest level, so that every player in the club can enjoy their hockey and its social life to the fullest. As a club we have two key priorities. The first one is the recruitment and retention of players and umpires and the second one is the recruitment and retention of players and umpires. If you know anyone who has played or is interested in playing, get in touch with him or her now. We need them!

Summer training has started for both men and women on Tuesdays. Please bring a couple of quid for an hour and a half on the pitch. The more people we get, the cheaper it will be.

Keep fit and have a great summer.

Demi

FROM THE HORSES MOUTH

Have you ever read the quotes on the CHC website? They all come from the mouths of our eloquent and well-informed team mates. So if you have heard an 'absolute classic' on or off the pitch, email it to us and we'll include it, not only in the next newsletter, but also on the 'Quotes' page of the website.

Don't let them get away with it!

ROUNDER, ROUNDER, ROUNDER!

For the last few years, CHC has entered a superbly inexperienced team into a very serious local rounders league. In fairness, our opponents are very tolerant of our general ignorance of the laws of the game.

If you are interested in being a part of this dynamic, yet slightly under-performing set-up, please contact Demi on GLewis@central-tech.gloucs.sch.uk. Our home pitch is at Balcarras.
